I employ a combination of tools and software to enhance my coaching sessions and communication with students, tailoring the experience to their needs:
Discord: Discord serves as the primary communication platform due to its versatility and reliability. It allows for real-time voice communication, text chat, and screen sharing. Discord is ideal for discussing strategies, providing immediate feedback, and conducting interactive coaching sessions.
In-Game Communication: For console players on platforms like PlayStation or Xbox, I utilize in-game communication features to coordinate during matches. Clear and efficient in-game communication is essential for team coordination and executing strategies effectively.
AMD Instant Replays: I use AMD Instant Replays to capture gameplay footage during coaching sessions.
Epipen: Epipen is a valuable tool for annotating gameplay footage. I use it to mark specific points in the recorded videos, highlighting important moments, decisions, or mistakes.
I do review pre-recorded gameplay through any means; twitch, youtube, video files, etc. I like to do voiceover and sometimes edit over these clips and provide them back to my customers.
I do prefer full games or longer clips to really analysis and provide thorough feedback - sometimes i get clips which are like 30s - 90s, basically just a gunfight and it's hard to give full feedback as even minutes before a gunfight can determine or lead to an advantage.
I much prefer doing "live sessions" as in, i play with the customer and follow them in game and provide feedback - the intense moments tell me so much and being able to provide instant feedback tends to stick better with Customers.
I use a combination of tools and software depending on the player I'm coaching. Discord is the most important tool for communication because it allows vocal communication, as well as the ability to see the students screen and vice versa. I also use OBS and NohBoard to see and show inputs as well as a POV, or to mark up a video with a digital pen. I also will use the modded Apex Legends (R5) in order to give specific movement routes, or POI specific coaching, such as loot paths in competitive play.
I am very flexible when it comes to the clients tools and software's that the client can use so i involve the tools and communications that works best for them. Discord is a popular communication tool across all players when it comes to gaming so that is the most common tool used. I try to utilize old gameplay from the client and help them work on old mistakes as well.
The main tool I utilize for coaching is Discord. This can help with a variety of different barriers, like not relying on game chat and the availability to talk at any point. I also use Discord to watch gameplay if that's the coaching path we choose to take, and from there I will critique your in game decisions by getting an in depth view on how you play.
I use Discord for Voice Chat and Screen Share to Share my knowledge with Students & I use Exitlag Software to Play on any Server what my student want to play on.
