My coaching approach is extremely dependent on the client I have at hand. Apex Legends is a game where there are so many factors that play into improvement.
I have methods for aim training, 1 on 1 engagements, situational awareness, ranked assistance, competitive coaching, and almost any scenario you can think of. No matter what it is that you’d like to improve on, I have countless methods of getting you there.
My coaching style is quite flexible to suit the needs of customers. In general, i take a "goal-oriented" approach, where i look to discuss and set goals with the customer and coach them into an action plan to get to the goal(s).
Goals can be measurable, like get to Diamond or get a 3k damage badge for example, or more subjective like win more gunfights / 1v1s.
Once goal(s) have been identified, i look to set an action plan. Steps / routines to practice, things to avoid, things to do more often, etc. Through these action plans, customer have something they walk away with and can continue to monitor on their own. Then follow-up session will look to monitor these goals through the action plan and provide feedback against it all and adjust where needed.
In the end, where a customer knows what they want (goals) or coming in with more of an open mind, setting goals and an associated action plan is my methodology.
My coaching style in Apex Legends is highly personalized and focused on addressing the specific needs of each player. When I begin coaching sessions, I always start by asking players if there's a particular aspect of their gameplay they want to improve, such as movement, aiming, decision-making, or positioning. If they have a specific area in mind, I prioritize helping them with that aspect first, tailoring my guidance to their individual requirements.
For players who don't have a specific request, I adopt an observational approach. I watch them play live games or analyze their gameplay footage (VOD) in detail. This allows me to gain insights into their playstyle, understand how they approach fights, and identify their strengths and weaknesses. By closely studying their gameplay, I can provide targeted feedback and actionable advice.
Coaching tutorials for Aiming and Movement are amazing but for mechanics and strategy a little less. The reason for this is that every game of apex is different and it's easy to say "do this and do that" on a video when you don't know the situation that someone may be in in-game. Proper 1 on 1 coaching is the best option if you are trying to Improve Mechanics or strategy when in apex. Videos i recommend for Aiming and Movement especially if your on Controller are my videos! I have a Movement and Aiming Guide on my YT channel (MrInstinctt) that are super helpful if you want to improve your movement or aiming on a controller. For those mouse and keyboard players, i'm not sure but Youtube is your best option.
My coaching style and methodology in Apex Legends are centered around a combination of pinpointing issues and fostering good habits for consistent improvement. This involves reviewing your in-game decisions, aim, positioning, and movement. By pinpointing these issues, we can create a personalized plan of action to address them.
Creating and reinforcing positive gaming habits is essential for long-term success in Apex Legends. These habits include effective communication with your team, map awareness, and resource management. I usually will create a point of reference called a "Habit Journal" that I personalize for every player to help them excel quickly and efficiently.
