I combine lots of techniques to draw. For the characters I use a simple drawing style, firm lines, and quite detailed colors, but emphasize good anatomy. But sometimes the color style depends on the client’s request. To draw backgrounds I prefer to use digital painting techniques, but sometimes I also use lines.
Can you delve into your journey in the anime art industry, highlighting your experiences, training, and any educational qualifications that bolster your expertise?
I have bachelor degree in graphic design but actually it doesn’t help much. Most of my skills are self taught and a little bit from internship in studio. At my time, there was no any specific school for illustration and such. So we Indonesian artist were mostly self taught, thanks to internet we can do it.
What processes or methods do you employ to understand and bring a client's conceptual ideas to life through your artistry? What kind of input do you prefer from clients to start a project?
The process is pretty simple actually. First thing I must have is the character details, like outfits, pose and expressions. And then ask if they prefer kind of specific style. My favourite client is the one who provide picture references. And after all of that, I can estimate the cost and time.
In terms of personalization, what array of customization alternatives do you provide to clients to ensure their artwork is tailored to their preferences?
Mostly I do the artwork in A3 size which is 42 x 29.7 cm 300 dpi. I can do upsize until A1 but of course that will cost more. I provide PNG file mostly, transparent background PNG, and for PSD file I charge more.
I start my journey with photoshop and until now too. Becasue it’s really versatile for me to draw characters and painting backgrounds. I also use clip studio paint now because of the 3D figure feature which is really helpful and some brushes are unique. Sometimes I also use blender to make draft for background.
Yes, actually I do that a lot. I can say that is what I do mostly in past years. In Fiverr Most of the buyer were individuals, and sometimes commercial work.
To make every work successful, of course we start from a draft / sketch. And then updating every step of work and ask if the client have any revisions. I even offer revision after the order closed, but limited to minor revision.
The normal price start for a character. For more quantity of character I will give a bit discount. Additional cost added for background or complicated clothing, armors, or weapons. Moreover I charged more for commercial use and PSD file.
How do you approach the intellectual property rights pertaining to the artworks you create, and what rights do clients retain once a project is completed?
It’s totally free for personal use. But like I said before, I charge for commercial use. With commercial use rights, client can sell and use the artworks in unlimited way.
