How do you analyze a player's performance in Valorant?
How do you assess a player's performance in Valorant, and how do you provide feedback? Do you review recorded sessions, watch live gameplay, or use other methods for analysis?
My assessment and feedback strategy caters to diverse skill levels, adapting to players’ Valorant growth.Live Gameplay Sessions for Foundation: I initiate with live gameplay, the basis for assessment. This lets me observe decisions, positioning, and mechanics in real-time. Swift feedback enhances essential skills crucial in intense moments.
Transitioning to Detailed VOD Reviews: Advancing players undergo meticulous Video-On-Demand (VOD) analysis. Deep dives into gameplay dissect engagements, rotations, and strategies. Insights not apparent during live play lead to significant overall progress. Learning from Pro Players’ Gameplay: I integrate pro players’ gameplay analysis for strategic acumen. Students learn high-level decision-making and reasoning. Together, we discuss, quiz, and develop smart decision-making akin to elite players.
Tailored Assessments and Quizzes: Throughout our journey, tailored assessments and quizzes enhance learning. Tests gauge concept grasp and encourage in-game application. This solidifies understanding, bridging theory and action.
Open Communication for Holistic Feedback: Open dialogue is key. Players share thoughts, aiding insights into thought processes. Tailored guidance aligned with learning preferences results from this exchange.
In summary, my assessment and feedback blend live gameplay, VOD reviews, learning from pros, tailored assessments, quizzes, and communication emphasis. This multifaceted strategy ensures personalized guidance across all Valorant stages.
Both watching live gameplay and reviewing recorded matches (VODs). If it’s not live gameplay, I can either record myself reviewing it and send it to the client, or we can do it together in a Discord call, it’s up to them.
I look at their profile on tracker.gg, so I can see their rank and how much they play the game. But most important is seeing their performance in-game so I can see what mistakes they shouldn’t be committing at their rank anymore.
I provide feedback before, during, and after the match that they played (Or VOD that we watched), and after the session, I give them notes with points they can improve and how to do it.
I do both Live reviews and Vod reviews. Both are done in the same way tho. Live reviews are done through discord sharescreen, and for vod reviews, well, players send me their recorded gameplay. While im watching their gameplay, i make notes based off of their mistakes. In live sessions i usually don’t “guide” players, because i want to see everything that they lack on. Sometimes it’s their decision making, gamesense, aim, movement or anything like that. If i simply guide them, i might skip one of their “bad” habits or things like that, and that can appear once again later in future when they don’t have my guidance. So, to prevent that, i see all the mistakes in the game, and i write them all down in the note, explaining them and how to fix them. Same goes for vod reviews, but in much much further detail, because i have more time to type when reviewing a vod. (I highly recommend vod reviews, can be more beneficial.)
I always recommend my students to go for VOD Review, which is basically, a gameplay review of their footage. As VOD Review allows me to use tools to help the student understand the concepts better. Such as: Drawing tools – pausing and taking our time to talk – Watching a play frame by frame and etc… Where Live games, the student is more focused on the game than the coach, and usually after the session ends, the student already forgets what the coach says due to the intense gameplay. There also is barely any room to speak together in a live game.
When you watch the player in-game live you understand everything the way they do like Peeking, Strafing, Using movement, Utility usage, Predicting the enemy’s play style, and Predicting the enemy’s utility. Those things will immediately tell you about your player’s performance in-game and afterward, I teach them how things should be done and give them better ideas about how they should need to play. I review the games live but, if the client wants just a Vod review I also vod review as well and send them feedback about how to improve.
It depends on what person purchases. As I already mentioned each person plays a game, so I am able to see his performance and flaws. Also there are some websites with statistics that I use in order to understand person’s flaws faster.
