I combine lots of techniques to draw. For the characters I use a simple drawing style, firm lines, and quite detailed colors, but emphasize good anatomy. But sometimes the color style depends on the client’s request. To draw backgrounds I prefer to use digital painting techniques, but sometimes I also use lines.

I have bachelor degree in graphic design but actually it doesn’t help much. Most of my skills are self taught and a little bit from internship in studio. At my time, there was no any specific school for illustration and such. So we Indonesian artist were mostly self taught, thanks to internet we can do it.

The process is pretty simple actually. First thing I must have is the character details, like outfits, pose and expressions. And then ask if they prefer kind of specific style. My favourite client is the one who provide picture references. And after all of that, I can estimate the cost and time.

I start my journey with photoshop and until now too. Becasue it’s really versatile for me to draw characters and painting backgrounds. I also use clip studio paint now because of the 3D figure feature which is really helpful and some brushes are unique. Sometimes I also use blender to make draft for background.
